Tea can stain your teeth, especially the basic black variety. They even stain more than coffee.

Deep-coloured sauces like tomato sauce, soy sauce and curry have potential to cause staining. Try to choose light cream sauces over darker ones.

Red wine are intensely pigmented, and if it can stain the tablecloth, it has potential to stain the tooth too. Thinking of white wine? They are more acidic that that of red wine.

Do you love blueberries, blackberries, cherries, pomegranates? They are highly pigmented, including other vibrant colour fruits.

Soda, cola and other carbonated drinks contain chromogens and high acidity that can be compared to that of battery acid. Plus, many contain flavoured additives.

Hard candies, chewing gums and popsicles that changes colour of your tongue prone to cause discolouration of teeth too.

So what are the solutions?
  1. Don't need to cut all highly-pigmented foods, because most of them are antioxidants. But you can substitute with less staining antioxidants like cauliflower, apples and melons.
  2. Use straw to sip juices and sodas as to avoid discolouration.
  3. Don't let acidic drinks in your mouth for too long, swallow them swiftly.
  4. Rinse and brush your teeth after consuming stain-causing food or drink, if not chew on sugar-free gums.
